Glyde

Mobile Web Experience

Glyde was a small startup that provided a marketplace for buying and selling used goods. Glyde’s marketplace worked a little differently. Glyde took the hassle out of selling by not having to take photos or write descriptions, safely pack the item, print labels or travel to mail the item.

The Challenge
Design a mobile web experience that prioritized listing items to sell with a simple, intuitive interface. The selling of pre-owned mobile devices was Glyde’s primary focus so we needed an easy way for users to list their device and easily let us know the device’s condition and exactly what features it had.

Here's how I did it.

MESSAGING

Selling is priority one.

Mock Ups

The Homepage - Glyde allows you to buy pre-owned items but allowing users to list their items for sale is the primary interaction.

Mock Ups

Finding Your Device - Only items in our database can be sold so an intuitive search autocomplete was key.

INTERACTION

Setting a Reasonable Price.

Mock Ups

Ensuring a Quick Sale - One of the hardest parts of achieving a thriving marketplace was getting enough reasonably priced items listed to keep inventory moving. Messaging to the user how the price they chose affected their chances of selling or how long it might take to sell was key. We iterated on a number of approaches before this final design was found to be a winning solution.

Mock Ups

Instant Sale - In certain circumstances if a seller listed their device low enough Glyde would buy the item, thus ensuring an instant sale. Making the user aware of this option was important and the slider pricing interaction helped us work this option into the interface.
